You can't really say Mr. Snyder completely transformed Norma-Jean Baker into Marilyn Monroe. Although he was a huge part of it, lets face it, she was a beautiful girl with amazing bone structure. She had this open face with divine features. She had wonderful skin, big blue eyes and a generous mouth. Norma-Jean was a good looking woman, but she was not Marilyn. That took just a bit of work. She took her a few big steps towards becoming Marilyn, she died her hair and had a few nips/tucks. It's said that every trick in the book was used to create her iconic face. But I don't think they created her as much as they found her. Look at her pictures through the decades, like the PR stills from her last movie (see below), "Something's Got to Give". The makeup is the same, adjusted for her age. Her beauty remains the focal point. She looks radiant, more mature and even more lovely. I conclude that the makeup brings out the best version of Marilyn's face. It is not creating her look as much as it is accentuating her beauty. You will come to the same conclusion quickly when you try and give someone a "Marilyn look" and they have a "Joe DiMaggio" face. It can be an epic fail on the wrong face. This is the perfect example of the right artist with the perfect subject: Whitey and Marilyn!
Her skin looked so touchable and flawless. Marilyn used Nivea and Vaseline on her skin, which gave her a dewy, soft-focus look. Although thick and sticky in texture I would imagine she’d be using something like Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream today, to get the same effect. Or maybe even, Charlotte Tilbury magic cream!
Marilyn didn't use powder, it's said she wanted to keep a real glow to her skin. Marilyn was a fan of Max Factor foundations as they gave her an amazing sheen.

brows and eyes
Marilyn's face had so much expression, it was so vulnerable and sexy. Her strong brows framed her bedroom eyes perfectly. Here are the steps Allan took to create her eyes:
Marilyn's lashes are simply divine. It's the use of false half lashes that give them that heavy sleepy appearance.
